Hour of Code Week

Dec 02, 2017

December 4-8 is the global “Hour of Code” week which promotes computer science for all ages. At St. James, students are taking part of this global movement by harnessing the power of the iPad with apps such as The Foos, Tynker, Scratch, and even the hottest programming language out there: Swift.

Using resources from code.org, the power behind the Hour of Code, students will be aligning with the “Everyone Can Code” initiative by Apple to create video games, learn digital design, and conquer digital text editing with a fun twist. Most of these activities will take place during STEM and Library time, but don’t be surprised to see it happening in other areas and times throughout the week.

Our Academic Technology Specialist, Alison Fin, has researched and prepared our students' iPads for what will definitely be an exciting time of coding! And since the Hour of Code is for ALL AGES, we encourage you to also take part in the Hour of Code by visiting the website, here, and completing an activity yourself or with your children!
